ACCOUNT RESEARCH FOR WAREHOUSE & MATERIAL HANDLING SELLERS

Owning forklifts is not buying intent.

Find operations where your equipment could create buyer value. Research the bottleneck, workable deployment, productive time and reasons to buy now.

The accounts. The business case. The next move.

THE PAIN / NOT ANOTHER GENERIC LIST

A forklift sighting is not a fit signal.

Before selling time becomes sunk time, test the obstacles.

Presence is not need

Equipment ownership says little about urgency, constraints or the product-specific problem.

Capacity is not cash

Hours freed only create this value when useful redeployment or avoidable cost makes them real.

The buying team is blurry

A guessed title can leave technical evaluators and budget authority out of the picture.

02 / NEXTThe obstacle becomes a research question.

WHAT ALMA HUNTER DELIVERS

Find the operating case before the equipment pitch.

  1. 01

    A relevant flow problem

Map solution capability to documented workload, site constraints and operating need.

  2. 02

    A defensible time-value case

Connect labor and throughput hypotheses to comparable baselines, without treating capacity as automatic savings.

  3. 03

    Buying readiness with evidence

Check intent, timing and decision-team/BANT gaps before recommending the account.

Illustrative qualification, not a researched account. Unknowns stay unknown.

03 / NEXTA better-supported account gives your team something to measure.

THE KPIs / TRACK, DO NOT PROMISE

Better evidence.
Clearer sales decisions.

Metrics to monitor—not guaranteed lifts, meetings or sales.

TRACK 01

Evidence-qualified accounts

Monitor fit, technical constraints and supported buying-readiness checks.

TRACK 02

Decision-team coverage

Track relevant approval roles and unresolved evidence gaps.

TRACK 03

Moves per labor hour

Compare consistently measured workload and hours—not unlike-for-like periods.

04 / NEXTThe buyer still has to win. Test the economics.

THE BUYER’S RETURN FROM YOUR SOLUTION

Make the value real.

Separate capacity from cash savings. Count time value only when validated and usefully redeployed or genuinely avoidable.

See formulas, evidence needed and research context

Gross benefit = potential units × economic unit value × realized share.

Full year-one cost = full upfront deployment + annual operating cost. Net = benefit − full cost. Year-one ROI = net ÷ full cost × 100. Each cost is subtracted once.

Simple upfront payback = upfront cost ÷ (annual benefit − annual operating cost) × 12 months, only if annual net benefit is positive. It assumes steady annual realization, not a discounted cash-flow forecast. Year-one break-even units = full year-one cost ÷ realized unit value.

Compare time studies, WMS/shift records, workload and actual redeployment or avoidable labor cost.
