Small tasks, multiplied
Capture, validation, matching, approvals and exception handling can consume productive time across every invoice.
ACCOUNT RESEARCH FOR ACCOUNTS-PAYABLE AUTOMATION SELLERS
Alma Hunter delivers reviewed account and buyer-fit research for sellers—not AP software, CRM, subscriptions or guaranteed leads. Find buyers able to quantify invoice work before pitching automation.
The accounts. The business case. The next move.
THE PAIN / NOT ANOTHER GENERIC LIST
Before selling time becomes sunk time, test the obstacles.
Capture, validation, matching, approvals and exception handling can consume productive time across every invoice.
Labor is only part of the bill: AP process cost can also include systems, overhead, other and outsourced costs.
Without comparable invoice-through-payment measures, it is hard to distinguish routine work from bottlenecks worth fixing.
WHAT ALMA HUNTER DELIVERS
Measure invoice volume, touch time and exceptions before estimating which manual steps a buyer’s workflow might reduce.
Use buyer-verified annual cost and invoice counts; count implementation and ongoing solution costs once.
Compare baseline and post-change processing measures, while separating observed savings from assumptions and unrelated effects.
Illustrative qualification, not a researched account. Unknowns stay unknown.
THE KPIs / TRACK, DO NOT PROMISE
Metrics to monitor—not guaranteed lifts, meetings or sales.
Establish median staff minutes spent processing an invoice in a defined, representative sample before modeling savings.
Calculate annual in-scope AP process cost divided by invoices processed, using a consistent cost scope and period.
Measure the share of invoices requiring exception handling or repeated work in the same baseline period.
THE BUYER’S RETURN FROM YOUR SOLUTION
This models your buyer’s return from your solution—not your revenue from buying leads.
YOUR BUYER’S ROI / FICTIONAL INPUTS
YEAR ONE / USD / MODEL, NOT A FORECAST
Below year-one break-even. Revisit the case—not the arithmetic.
Illustrative, editable assumptions—not validated results, guarantees or Alma service pricing.
Fictional USD illustration only, not a quote, benchmark, forecast or promised result. Buyer solution costs are counted as upfront plus one year of ongoing cost; benefit is annual invoice volume × buyer-estimated avoidable processing cost per invoice × realized share. Realized share is the portion of estimated savings actually achieved—not the probability a project succeeds. Excludes fraud recovery, duplicate-payment recovery, discounts, financing benefits and other unverified value.
Gross benefit = potential units × economic unit value × realized share.
Full year-one cost = full upfront deployment + annual operating cost. Net = benefit − full cost. Year-one ROI = net ÷ full cost × 100. Each cost is subtracted once.
Simple upfront payback = upfront cost ÷ (annual benefit − annual operating cost) × 12 months, only if annual net benefit is positive. It assumes steady annual realization, not a discounted cash-flow forecast. Year-one break-even units = full year-one cost ÷ realized unit value.
Replace every illustrative input with buyer records. APQC defines AP cost per invoice as total AP process cost divided by invoices processed and includes personnel, systems, overhead, other and outsourced costs. Compare the same process scope and period before and after deployment; validate productive time actually avoided and avoid counting redeployed capacity as cash savings unless finance confirms it.
